Where's the most expensive place in the world to sell a property? Turns out it's Mexico and South Africa where estate agents charge a whopping 7.5% commission on the value of a home. Australia also ranked high at 5.7%, with the US (5.5%), Canada and Brazil (5%) also coming in at 5% or more. To put that into context, if your home sold for the equivalent of £100,000 in South Africa or Mexico, you'd be paying the agent £7,500.That makes the UK and Ireland agents look cheap at around 1.5%. However, we don't think so here and you don't have to pay anywhere near that if you are selling in the greater Belfast area.
