House prices continue on upward trend

The latest figures for April 2021 from Halifax show house prices continue to increase across the UK: On a monthly basis, house prices in April were 1.4% higher than in March. In the latest quarter (February to April) house prices were 0.9% higher than in the preceding three months (November to January). Nationally, house prices were 8.2% higher than in April 2020. There are no NI specific figures as yet for April, however we expect they will be up. The average house price in Northern Ireland increased by 5.3% over the year to Quarter 4 (Oct to Dec) 2020. Northern Ireland remains the cheapest UK country to purchase a property in, with the average house price at £148,000 (source:ONS).
